Mobile App

All, Last year we started working on a mobile app to replace guidebook. We got most of the way there, but didn't quite make it in time to be used for the conference. We'd love to see this app used this year so we're reaching out for your help to get it up and running. We're looking for people to test the app, develop features, find and report bugs, and work on backend features. the app can be installed on both Android, iOS, and all desktop OS's: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.knowikiapps.SCaLE https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/scale-conference/id1340573731 https://github.com/KnowikiApps/scale-conf-app Currently the app is configured for 16x, but we just need the backend API endpoints for 17x and that will be fixed. Hands-on activities in the Expo hall?

Hi all I was thinking that next year, instead of having a dedicated room for TNG Playground, that we can do it in a common area of the Expo hall instead. It would drive traffic to the Expo hall. We could have a mix of activities that are either kid-friendly or aimed at an older crowd. The STEM groups that helped out last year are interested in having community booths this year, so doing things in the Expo hall would be more convenient and may encourage more participation from other exhibitors. Since this will involve identifying a space that will have access to power and/or Internet, I'd like to know what to do to move this idea forward. Thoughts? Lan

SUNI the Robot

moin moin, We had a STEM event over the weekend. I met the creators of SUNI the robot. It runs ROS ( Robot Operating System ) on top of Ubuntu. https://sunitherobot.com/ I, of course, talked to them about Free Software :). Part of that conversation was promoting SCaLE. He said they're already booked for all of March. After Scott looked at SCaLE info yesterday they've decided to move the events so they can make SCaLE afterall. Lori, interested in having SUNI participate in game night on Saturday? The Red Hat events folks who will be at SCaLE are interested in doing a sponsored evening event, either a RHUG happy hour or being a Games Night sponsor. Have we got sponsors lined up for games night yet, is there a generic games sponsor package I can pass on, or how can we go about exploring that more?- Jill
