Hi all,
SGVHAK will be at the DTLA Mini Maker Faire at Central Library in downtown Los Angeles. It's this Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Y'all are welcome to join us.
Since the library is hosting it, it's going to be kid and student-friendly with a strong educational bent.
Is there anything maker-related or education-related that we should be promoting about SCALE? Any big plans for TNG?
I'm happy to pass out flyers. Maybe we can do flyers with a promo code?
I would need the flyer by Friday afternoon so I have time to print them out. I can try to mock something up, but would need to know what content to promote.

Sorry, forgot to include the relevant links. It is a free event. The library is asking for registration through Eventbrite, but I think that's really so they can have a headcount. This is their 2nd year doing this and they have 40+ makers lined up.

It was a pretty big event with lots of exhibits and lots of attendees. I think the target audience was mostly kids and their parents. Jess made me a flyer with the promo code, which I posted all over our booth. But I think the value would've been more in recruiting volunteers, activities for game night, or the Next Generation.
Here's a quick Instagram video posted by the library. https://www.instagram.com/p/BcOFXg0laVd/?hl=en&taken-by=lapubliclibrary
This is interesting. I did not know that Volunteer Match could use LinkedIn to recruit volunteers. https://www.linkedin.com/jobs/view/volunteer%3A-help-bring- science-to-life%21-volunteer-at-the-dtla-mini-maker-faire- at-lapl%21-at-volunteermatch-472328494

Lan, I tried to click the LinkedIn recruitment link but it came up invalid. It looks like I can post a volunteer job on LinkedIn but I don't want to step on anyone else's toes. Did anyone else offer to do this already? If not, I can do it. Appears to only take 10 minutes to finish. I'm not sure if it costs or I have to have a Premium membership to post a job.

There is actually a link to a Google volunteer signup form. Perhaps we can update the form to reflect from SCALE 15x to SCALE 16x, give it a shortened link and promote it more prominently? http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/blog/scale-16x-save-date

I tried to setup a Volunteer job search 2 ways and the first one wanted me to pay a fee. The 2nd time with the link you gave here https://nonprofit. linkedin.com/volunteers/find-volunteers booted me out and said I was ineligible with no explanation.
Anyone able to update the form?https://docs.google.com/forms/ d/e/1FAIpQLSevAd9_9i455GnbdbKDZTUcW85VLSN3UH5duS0nz7yz0fiTrg/viewform I'll spread it's goodness on my LinkedIn updates etc.
Wishing everyone a Happy Saturday!
