we have multiple offers of 3D printers. it still has to come together as a coherent activity, so needs a few more days to cook.

Did we confirm this for the expo hall? Should we hold a booth or two for this?

thanks, john, that's a great offer.
i checked with the venue, and they are fine with us 3D printing in the expo hall. we just have to watch the power.
i have not heard back from the PVNet folks on this, so it feels like their level of interest is not high. i don't know anyone else who has that much equipment, so unless someone else chimes in along with john, a large-scale 3D printer offering is unlikely to happen.
john, i'll see what the chairs think about where we should set the 3D printing activity. no matter where we can set it up, you will have volunteers to help.

I have a 3D printer and would love to help out. It’s nothing fancy, but I know a bunch of the tools to use and can print stuff out.
Let me know if you’d like help or anything.

Lori... the 3D printer workshops sound terrific! I was going to suggest something like that but it sounds like you have a real good connection for it. As I said earlier... after the elections on Tuesday I'll have more time to help out with the activity center/maker faire.

P.S. I may also be able to find a few volunteers to help out.

it would be great to find extra activities that could be staffed by vendors, so here's one idea. one of the nonprofit training centers i have a relationship with has a hybrid offering that might work in the expo hall. it's a low cost 3-D printer package targeting parents which comes with a 2-hr workshop, so they can maintain it and teach their kids to use it. they also offer a followup 3-D design class for kids. having all this in one area might make sales and an interesting show for onlookers.
now that the PCC has relaxed its rule about soldering irons, i wonder if we could also have 3-D printers in the expo hall.
