HI Ilan and Bala and All! I have been looking over the SCaLE 15X schedule and I have a few questions and comments… Q: Is there going to be a Game Night this year. Which evening and what is the time schedule? Q: What is the venue for “Bad Voltage?” In one place it says “Ballroom DE” in another, it says it will be “at the historic Castle Green.” So, where is it going to be? Q: Can you explain more about the “Capture The Flag” event on Saturday? Has the time been set for that? What will participants be doing and what, if anything do they need to bring? Comment: Ruth Suehle’s name should be added in the Sunday 3-4pm time slot in the OSSIE track. She and Tom Calloway co-authored the RPI book and will be speaking together. Comment: I need to start lining up volunteers for the booth. In past years we were able to provide them with free registration in exchange for their donation of time in the booth. Q: When will the registration codes for these volunteers be available so they can register? Q: Kenneth will have a “Speakers” badge and registration. Am I, as co-chair of the OSSIE track, a member of the planning committee? If so, what code do I need to register? Comment: I am going to make up a page with links about OSSIE at SCaLE and try to get it posted on the CUE websites and maybe I’ll send it to the Computer Science departments and education departments at local colleges. I was thinking of doing a BOF for OSSIE either Friday or Saturday and having flyers in the booth. Q: Does anyone have any ideas for more publicity for OSSIE? That’s all I can remember for now. Scale Cyber Competition

Hello Team, So I am one of the organizers for the cyber competition happening this year at SCaLE and wanted to clarify a little about what will be happening. It will be broken up into two parts. The first will be a system hardening exercise where they will need to secure an Ubuntu Image. Then second is the FacebookCTF event. So for the Capture The Flag event, participants will be using the FacebookCTF user interface to answer various IT related questions with the purpose of obtaining the most points. Now in regards to what they need to bring I think a laptop as a backup plan if we can't get the system76 machines. The laptop they bring should be able to run a virtual machines. Banner Ads for SCALE 15x?

Hi folks, Anyone have some spare cycles to help design some banners and buttons for this year's show? We have a few community members reaching out for something they can put on their websites to promote scale. Ideally we'd do them as 728x90 and 300x250 so we can use them for Linux New Media's websites as well. outreach for Youth track?

Hi, I'm planning an outreach event at JPL (Pasadena/La Canada-Flintridge) on Friday, Feb 10th aimed at encourage girls to continue pursuing an interest in coding and technology. It is primarily targeted at high schoolers participating in programs like Girls Who Code and FIRST Robotics, though I have invited a couple of college outreach groups and my colleagues to participate. One of the things I want to do is to bring their attention to hackathons and conferences. SCALE is an obvious example. I've also reached out to people I know with the NASA Space Apps Challenge and the Intel Science and Engineering Fair. Is someone from SCALE available to talk about the youth track and its activities with the aim of either encouraging them to attend SCALE or participate in the future. The event will be Friday, Feb 10th, from 6pm to 9pm. Please let me know and I will make arrangements off-list. Thanks, Lan
