Hi all,
SGVHAK will be at the DTLA Mini Maker Faire on Saturday at the Los Angeles
Central Library. It'd probably be a good place to promote SCALE and get
ideas for that hands-on activity area we are planning for the exhibit
hall. I have a lot of SCALE t-shirts still, so I plan on handing them out
there, particularly the youth sizes.
It might also be a good place to look for participants in The Next
Generation track. There will be some high school groups there. In fact,
Santa Susana High School students will be at the JPL Open Source Rover
booth; they were one of the beta build groups in addition to our SGVHAK
group. We helped exercise the documentation and show that we could build a
rover in about 3 months, under budget.

Please come join us to check out the fair, and we wouldn't mind help
promoting SCALE, as well, as we'll be quite busy running our booths.

Hi,
Looks like a great chance to connect with numerous user groups in the OC to
help encourage greater community participation at SCALE 17x.
Recommend anyone close to OC to go and help promote SCALE 17x there.

Thank You

moin moin,
can we push the deadline back a day for SCaLE18x?
Having the deadline on Halloween makes it difficult to finish last minute
reviews and proposals for many of us.
Hope everyone had a great Halloween :).
ciao,

Hi all,
SGVTech is participating in Connect Week by having an open house/networking
mixer on Thursday, 10/25 @ 7pm. We plan on doing our usual promotion of
SCALE and in particularly, we'll be recruiting volunteers for the SCALE A/V
team.
https://www.meetup.com/SGVTech/events/255544051/
Who has possession of the SCALE banner? Is there new artwork for SCALE 17x?
Does anyone have a flyer prepared? Is there a particular message we want
to get out at this particular time?
Also, where should I direct people who are interested in a booth at SCALE?
At least one student club and LAPL are interested, and we'll probably do
one this year too.
Also, one of the benefits of being involved in Connect Week is that we have
had good conversations with Innovate Pasadena. There could be great
opportunities for Innovate Pasadena to help SCALE. There are a lot of
companies hiring now, and it'd be worth letting them know that SCALE is a
great place for them to make their presence known to tech folks who already
have a lot of the skills they are looking for.
Lan
Hello,
Do we have any artwork for SCALE 17x yet? Would like to start updating all
our social media presences like our FB page, twitter account, etc.
Thanks,
Ilan
Hi,
Just a reminder, some I've pitched this idea directly to you during
Shellcon.
We can organize an event(s) during Connect Week to help promote SCALE 17x.
There are some nice venues available.
Connect week(+) Oct 20-28, 2018 in Pasadena:
Innovate Pasadena ( a non-profit to promote innovation, tech, arts, and
science in Pasadena ) is helping community events do events / meetups
during that period by assisting with connecting us with venues. Many of the
venues are donating their spaces. ( Connect Week will also assist with
marketing )
So, that makes it very easy for us in the community to organize events! We
would still need to find food / coffee sponsors.
I highly encourage anyone interested to do something.
There are spaces available for weeknights, weekdays, and weekends.
https://connectpasadena.com/
This is an annual event, and thus we should be able to utilize the
opportunity to build partner community run events which Innovate Pasadena
will assist us with.
We can use this opportunity to do something in Pasadena to support our
regular user groups and larger conferences / events.
If you need an introduction to the IP folks who can assist you, please let
me know.
Thank You
Matti
ps - I have RSVP'ed a venue for a "product" day on Sat 10/27 and now will
need to secure a food and a coffee sponsor and a couple more presentations
/ content. There appeared to be a number of larger venues available to
handle 30-100+ people, and I see a lot of great opportunities for us to
build a stronger community.
