One of my best friends is Kevin Smith, business editor of the San Gabriel Valley News. His office is right on Colorado Blvd near the Convention Center, and he seems to hang out with a lot of politicians and business leaders in the area.
I've mentioned Scale to him a couple of times, and tried to explain that Linux is taking over the world; who else can talk to him about the importance of this conference? Can we arrange for him to interview some of the speakers, especially the keynotes?
I'll send him the link to the website for starters.
I am a noob, so not the one torepresent, but I have seen a few Linux articles... Have him do a Google search, he'll seea scoop, or really, continue the scoop locally. Here's a quick research on the google search "Linux is taking over the world"
I like this article with some cold hard facts about the reasonsLinux will is taking over: "The primary drivers behind this idea of desktop Windows displacement are: 1) Interface - People don't like Windows 8.x.2) Price - People are tired of the constant hardware, software, and OS upgrade cycle.3) Security - People are tired of viruses, malware, and hacks.4) Loss - People are tired of losing data when a disk crashes or a device is stolen.5) Battery Life - Mobile users need longer battery life.6) Usability - More versatile than a tablet. Less cumbersome than a laptop.7) Browser-based - The future of software is SaaS. " from http://www.zdnet.com/article/linux-is-about-to-take-over-the-desktop-but-not... ------------------------------------------- an from wiki ...'In August 2010, Jeffrey Hammond, principal analyst at Forrester Research, declared, "Linux has crossed the chasm to mainstream adoption," a statement attested by the large number of enterprises that had transitioned to Linux during the late-2000s recession. In a company survey completed in the third quarter of 2009, 48% of surveyed companies reported using an open-source operating system.[2]...' from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Linux_adoption

Also the "politicians and business leaders" need IT to succeed... Linux is now THEE OS.Does he know what OS is, and what it means? Without sounding like a total n00b, who might those people be? I signed up to help with A/V (sound boards, audio support, etc), but as yet haven't heard anything from anyone about room distributions, what the specific needs are, sign up sheets for sessions, etc. (not to mention confirmation on where I'm staying!).
Am I missing something, or perhaps just fell threw the cracks? Or is that information coming next week or on-site?
