FYI, just got this from two LOPSA mailing lists. I believe something similar came in via a debian list a couple weeks ago.

yeah, i just got it for the second time myself, through the ShellCon info@ mailbox. aaargh. i hear every conference on earth gets targeted by this scam.
people, we will NEVER sell the attendee list and it's too early for even us to have one. there isn't one for sale out there.

Unfortunately they are increasingly representing themselves as being part of . the SCALE team; or a group we contracted. While it is annoying and damaging to our brand/reputation, there is not much we can do.
We do not sell lists or attendee info. This is a fairly common scam. As you dig in you find they're all fronts for "marketing" companies in India and South East Asia. Occasionally they have addresses in the US, which all turn outt o be weworks or regis rented offices.

To give you a sense of how bad they are at their jobs, I get emails daily from them on my SCALE email offering to sell me attendee lists for SCALE. Maybe they dont think we have backups of our reg system and want to help out?
