FreedomHEC 2008 FreedomHEC 2008, the Linux device driver "unconference", will take place November 8-9, 2008 in Santa Monica, California, following WinHEC in Los Angeles. Plan to attend and learn why Linux support has become an industry standard requirement for new hardware, and how you can get your products supported under Linux quickly and conveniently for customers. LugRadio Live USA 2008 is coming!

LugRadio Live USA 2008 is coming to San Francisco Registration for LugRadio Live USA 2008 is now open at http://lugradio.org/live/USA2008/register, and tickets for the two-day spectacular cost only $10 for the full weekend, including full access to all talks, the exhibition, evening events, and a free bag o'swag for visitors. SCALE 2008 postmortem?

I was looking around at the scale site for a place to add comments about the event. I found none, so I decided to post on the scale list. Anyway, I think it would be great, if there was a way for people to add their constructive criticism about the 2008 event. Since I may be kicking off the start of a potentially interesting post, I might as well add my recommendations. 1. The only major problem I had was with name-tag lanyards. Please, please, please make the font bigger and print the names on both sides. I had a real hard time reading people's names, even on the rare instances where the name-tag was facing the correct direction. Yes I wear glasses, but had broken them before the event. I'm sure many people were wondering why I was using my face as an OCR scanner on their name-tag. If you need more ink and paper to do this, I will donate $200. 2. The printed schedule was missing the raffle event/party for Saturday(I think). Other than that, and any venue related problems, it was excellent. I'm looking forward to next year. And I'm sorry if this is the wrong list to post to.

DV Cameras needed to Video SCALE Sessions

Hi there, I'm Tom King with the Santa Barbara Linux User's Group. We are undertaking the Video Recording and transcoding of the Scale Sessions this year. We will be recording the Speaker Sessions in the Speaker Rooms and also Broadcasting (into overflow room and streaming) of the Keynote. We need 2 cameras in every room (total of 8) and 2 Roving cameras + a Spare We currently have 8 confirmed and are in need of 3 more(but the more the merrier as we want to be sure things stay going.. The Preferred recording media is miniDV but Digital8 would be fine. The cameras will be in the rooms with somebody watching them OR be locked up. if you have a camera that we can borrow from Thursday night till end of show Sunday we would appreciate borrowing it.
