The response to this year's Linux Training class has been so robust that the trainer, Tom King has requested another assistant for the class. If you're comfortable with installing Linux and the command line, consider helping Tom out. The Installfest is Saturday morning, so you'll have the afternoon off to browse the Expo. Sunday is Linux admin training. Tasks will involve patrolling the room, assisting students with installation on their system, or maybe answering questions during the training.
If you volunteer, I'll give you free registration to SCALe next year :-)

Hi all,
tl;dr looking for a volunteer help Sep 13-14 for SCALE Booth at OC Maker Faire. I have some help already but looking for an additional person for Saturday, particularly in the afternoon, and for Sunday. Let me know by Wednesday at noon and specify your availability. I will sort out logistics and staffing schedule by Thursday. Details below.
I signed up for a SCALE booth at OC Maker Faire on Sep 13-14. We will be indoors in the Costa Mesa Building at the OC Faire and Events Center (88 Fair Dr, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States). No Internet access but we have power, 3 tables, and 2 chairs.
Booths are open on Saturday 10am-5pm and on Sunday 10am to 4pm. We can come as early as 8am to prep for the day. I will need help with teardown on Sunday.
Please let me know at your earliest convenience. We will be promoting the SCALE conference with a particular focus on the Next Generation teen track. We'll have the Open Source Rover on display and we should have one that can be driven around. We will do some disassembly/reassembly activity around building a computer. Depending on who is staffing, maybe we can have a couple of laptops to demonstrate Linux and open source software. I'll have a 32-inch display to play videos or sideshows. (Note: there will no Internet access at the venue.)
During the show, I'd like a couple of people to stay at the booth to promote SCALE and run the activities, one person to drive the rover to attract people to our booth and one person who can float around and bring us food or help network at the other booths. We would trade off on duties.
